staging your home

In the first of this series of posts we talked about how to stage your kitchen. This time we’ll be talking about how to create a beautiful bedroom that catches the eye of potential buyers and makes them feel at home. We’ll show you how to highlight good things about your bedrooms and also how to downplay the not-so-good things.

Make Everyone Happy

When you are staging your bedroom be sure to appeal to both males and females. This means you should get rid of any gender-specific items like fluffy butterfly pillows and monster truck posters. It’s also a good idea to paint the walls a neutral color both sexes will enjoy.

Eliminate Clutter

No one likes a messy bedroom, especially potential buyers. This rule applies to any room in the home, but we just had to mention it! You'll want to clean everything from top to bottom and don't forget to hide any dirty laundry.

Make Your Bed

Making your bed is something your parents probably told you to do everyday and we think it’s a good idea too! However, you may want to kick it up a notch and purchase new sheets, pillows, and blankets to make it look its best. Keep it tidy, clean, and smelling fresh. You may even want to only use the new bedding materials for when the home is being shown--that way you won’t have to worry so much about washing it.

Organize The Closets

As you’re staging your home, take a little time to organize your closets. We’re confident you’ll find a few things you can get rid of and a few things you can relocate to eliminate clutter.

Remove Distracting Furniture

A bedroom should give off a relaxing and comforting vibe, not a cluttered and confused one. Remove any excess furniture even if it’s functional for you and your family. Potential buyers will prefer the open and relaxing atmosphere.

Get Rid Of Monsters Under The Bed

Hiding things under the bed is very convenient when you’re cleaning in a hurry, but you don’t want any monsters down there when someone is viewing your home. Remove any items you may have there and organize them elsewhere, say a garage or attic space. While you’re at it, go ahead and vacuum or sweep under the bed too!

These six tips should get you well on your way to staging your home. What’s your best tip for making a bedroom look beautiful? If you have questions about this topic or anything else, please post your question in the comment section below.
